Many seniors in the U.S. are separated from their larger community and grapple with constant loneliness and depression as a result of their isolation. Music is a healing force. The Pan-African choir offers specially-tailored visits to retirement centers, where the organization directly collaborates with seniors to prioritize their feelings, stories and experiences. Retirement communities often lack exposure to the arts, despite studies that show the arts promote relaxation, productivity and lowered stress levels. Our arts programs create social connections that can, over the long term, help improve memory and overall physical and mental health.
